Blended learning information guide

Sand Montessori, and most CPS schools, began phasing into blended learning, which includes in-person instruction, on Monday, Oct. 12. Sands will utilize the following CPS district-wide timeline to transition students to the blended learning model:

Week of October 12

  • Preschool and specialized classrooms return* — Monday distance, Tuesday-Friday in person
  • Grades K–2; Montessori 3rd Grade* — Monday distance, A group in-person Tuesday/Wednesday, B group in-person Thursday/Friday
  • Grades 7–8 — Monday distance, A group in-person Tuesday/Wednesday, B group in-person Thursday/Friday

Week of October 19

  • Grades 3–6 — Monday distance, A group in-person Tuesday/Wednesday, B group in-person Thursday/Friday
  • Grades 9–12 — Monday distance, A group in-person Tuesday/Wednesday, B group in-person Thursday/Friday
*Note these are changes to the original phase-in schedule.

Arrival/Drop Off Information

ARRIVAL

  • AM car line will be from 9:15-9:30 a.m.
    • 3-6 car drop off will take place in the side circle.
    • 6-9 and 9-12 car drop off will take place in the front circle.
  • Walkers may enter through the 3-6 side preschool doors from 9:15-9:30 a.m.
  • AM bus arrival will take place from 9:15-9:45 a.m.

DISMISSAL

  • AM preschool car line will take place in the side circle from 11:45 a.m-12 p.m.
  • Full day preschool car line will be from 3:20-3:30 p.m. in the front of the building. (Students will exit through the door beside the music room along the sidewalk.)
  • Walkers will be dismissed at 3:20 p.m. from the side preschool doors.
  • PM car line will be from 3:30-3:45 p.m.
    • Last names A-E, L-Q will pick up in the side circle
    • Last names  F-K, R-Z will pick up in the front circle
  • Bus riders will be dismissed from 3:30-4 p.m. as buses arrive.

  • Teachers will provide individual guidance for school supplies needed for each classroom community. Click here for the current class supply lists posted on the Sands website.
  • Fine Arts teachers have requested students bring additional supplies and laptops (for all classes except gym). Click here to view the UPDATED supply list and letterfrom the team.
  • CPS has developed this video to help students understand the new protocols in place when they return to school. Please be sure to watch it and discuss it with your students so they know what to expect.

Going forward, CPS will use additional flexibility and allow for either blended or distance learning when Hamilton County is in red status according to the State of Ohio Public Health Advisory System.
