After-School Acting – Acting Skills for Life
Grades 1-6 | January 23-May 9
Acting I: Tuesdays 3:45–5:00pm; Media Center
Acting Skills For Life offers a unique opportunity for students from 1st grade through 6th grade to learn the basic skills of acting, improvisation and simple staging of a performance. These classes are fun for the outgoing, as well as the shy child. The theater has something for everyone, whether it is on stage or backstage. Your child will discover a talent or skill they didn’t know they possess.
Acting Skills For Life can help give children the needed poise to be successful, confident and comfortable when speaking in front of a crowd. It helps children to be fast thinking on their feet and set their imagination free. Acting Skills For Life will foster growth in the following areas: Public Speaking, Taking Direction, Creativity, Being Self Aware, Friendship, Leadership, Perception, Posture and Body Language and Team Work.
Acting II – From Concept to Presentation (4th grade level or above with 2+ years experience or 1-year experience w/recommendation): Mondays 3:45–5:00pm; Science Lab
Do you want to put those creative ideas into action in a 14-week acting and writing workshop with an emphasis on sketch writing? Come join Acting Skills for Life as we explore characters, solo sketch ideas, and heighten your own creative voice. You will gain inspiration and the support you need to start building solo and group material that shows off your unique skill set and perspective. What is the difference between a 5-minute sketch and a 10-minute play? That extra five minutes means everything in this course that will explore character, story and subtext. Students will complete and revise a 10-minute play together. Students will also have an opportunity to create and perform their own and each other’s work.
We accept late enrollments for the first three weeks of class at a prorated fee if spots are available.
Cost: $175 per child ($85 with scholarship)
Sibling Discount: $145 per additional child
