Membership and Meetings

SMPO stands for Sands Montessori Parent Organization. This all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization is made up of Sands parents/legal guardians, teachers and staff.

The SMPO Mission is for families, staff, and students to work together to strengthen the Sands Montessori community of life-long learners. All Sands parents/legal guardians, teachers and staff are automatically members of the SMPO. Membership is free.

SMPO meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month (August-May) in the Media Center at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend.

The August and April meetings are also considered “General Parent Meetings.” This means that issues will be brought in front of the parents assembled for voting. Typically, the SMPO Annual Budget is voted on at the August meeting, while at the April meeting, the Rudder Committee members for the following school year are elected.

SMPO Bylaws

The SMPO Bylaws were adopted on February 19, 2004, and modified on these dates: April 2010, April 2011, October 2015, August 2016, and April 2018.
